Mission

The mission of the
Berwick Area Chamber of Commerce
is to strengthen the economic base and overall quality of life in the community.
 
As we strive to strengthen the quality of life within the Berwick area, we listed some recreational and cultural opportunities in the community:


Recreation

Ber-Vaughn Park, Evansville Lake and spots along the Susquehanna River are local areas delightful for relaxing and picnicking on lazy afternoons. For the sportsman, local fishing and hunting areas abound. All the activities of the Pocono's including skiing, horseback riding, swimming, hiking, etc. are just to the east on Interstate 80. The YMCA offers many recreational activities for all the ages and is in the process of raising funds for a state-of-the-art recreational and therapeutic swimming pool. Tennis, softball, little league and teener league baseball, soccer, and football fields are available. Public swimming is available at Ber-Vaughn Park and the indoor natatorium in the middle school during scheduled hours. The high school track is open to the public when not being used for school events. High school varsity athletic teams attract strong public support in their seasons, and many lay claim to regional, state, and even national championship titles.

Performing Arts

The Bloomsburg Theater Ensemble, the Celebrity Artist Series at Bloomsburg University, and Wilkes-Barre's Kirby Theater for performing arts provide seasonal schedules of cultural activities. These include drama, opera, band, orchestra, ballet, and special performances are available to the public. In addition the many attractions and activities of the Pocono's are easily accessible to the Berwick Area.

Downtown Entertainment

Berwick has won recognition for the Thanksgiving Day Run for the Diamonds, a nine-mile race that attracts approximately 750 runners from a wide geographic area. The annual Jaycees' Christmas Boulevard attracts many to the Market Street light and decoration display during the month of December.
